Even if your income level is too high to qualify for free legal aid, depending on your legal issue, there might be other organizations able to help with either expanded qualification guidelines or even be able to help regardless of your income level.
These programs are in place to serve a specific client population or address a specific issue Texans are faced with.
Special Programs Available to Help
The Legal Hotline for Texans is able to provide free legal advice on civil law to Texas Residents who are 60 years of age or older and Medicare recipients of any age regardless of income.
There is a free telephone hotline able to provide legal information, education, and resources for parents and other interested parties who do not have access to a lawyer and have issues with visitation.
This service can even provide assistance to those who are not Texas residents but have a custody and visitation order from Texas.
The CPS Family Helpline for Strong Families & Safe Children answers questions from parents and caregivers about CPS issues. Questions about the CPS process will be explained to callers in everyday language.
If you are a victim and/or survivor of domestic violence there are several programs available to help you.
Thanks to the efforts of the Texas Access to Justice Foundation and legal aid organizations there is a new program available specifically for victims and/or survivors of sexual assault.
