Most people have health care coverage through their job or a government health plan, such as Medicare, Medicaid, or a veterans’ health program.
If you cannot get health insurance at work or through a government program, you may buy it from an insurance company. Depending on your household income, you may even qualify for a subsidy to help with your premiums and lower your costs through the federal insurance marketplace.
For more information about insurance companies, visit the website of the Texas Department of Insurance.
To learn more about the federal insurance marketplace, visit Healthcare.gov or its Coverage options for people with disabilities page, or call 800-318-2596.
Most health plans must include benefits for mental health and substance use disorder services. To learn more, visit How to get help with a mental health issue.
