Civil District Courts hear all family and civil law issues including divorce cases, custody issues, child abuse and neglect (involving the Department of Family and Protective Services, or CPS) cases, cases involving title to land, and civil matters where the amount of money or damages involved is $200 or more.

This guide contains information on all the District Courts, Associate Courts, and the Maverick County Child Support (IV-D) Court.

The Child Support (IV-D) Court #21 conducts Maverick County hearings on Tuesdays in the Maverick County Courthouse at 500 Quarry Street, Eagle Pass, TX 78852. The mailing address for the Child Support Court is 1110 Victoria Street, Suite 101, Laredo, TX 78040.

Review the 293rd District Court Local Rules and the 293rd District Court Standing Order prior to your case. If you have any questions concerning court procedures, contact the court office at (830) 758-1730 or receptionist293@co.maverick.tx.us.

All documents you want to file with the court must be filed with the Maverick County District Clerk’s Office through e-filing or in person. Contact the District Clerk’s Office with any questions at (830) 773-2629.

Review the 293rd District Court Local Rules to learn how to schedule a hearing. The court will not set a hearing until the correct motions and a proposed order have been filed. All initial petitions filed with the court will automatically receive a hearing setting. If you do not receive notice of a hearing after you have properly filed your documents, contact the court office with any questions or concerns at (830) 758-1730 or receptionist293@co.maverick.tx.us.

Yes. As of March 1, 2023 any party may request a virtual hearing. If any party disagrees to a virtual setting, the hearing will be held in person.

All documents you plan on presenting as evidence for your hearing must be filed at least one day before any hearing. Email the evidence you plan to present to the court coordinator prior to your hearing and it will be available for presentation at your hearing. If you have any questions or concerns about submitting evidence prior to your hearing, contact the Court Coordinator at (830) 758-1730 or district293@co.maverick.tx.us.

All civil case documents you want to file with the court must be filed with the District Clerk's Office through e-filing, in person, fax, or by mail. Contact the Maverick County District Clerk’s Office with any questions at (830) 773-2629.

The 365th District Court has issued a Standing Order that states all motions must include a Certificate of Conference stating you tried to resolve the motion with all other parties and lawyers before filing.

No. However, you may possibly request to appear by telephone. Depending on the complexity of the matter, type of hearing, and the situation, the court will use its discretion to permit telephonic appearances. Contact the court to see if you can appear telephonically.

Court staff will contact you after your hearing is set with instructions for the hearing, including how evidence is submitted and presented to the court.

Child Support Court #21 hears cases that involve child support establishment, enforcement, and paternity cases. The Child Support Courts were created in response to the federal requirement that all states must create an expedited administrative or judicial process to resolve child support cases.

Yes. Zoom. Instructions are emailed to the parties. Parties are also instructed to connect by phone if they are unable to connect through zoom. Yes. All parties must agree to virtual hearings and all jury trials are in person.

The court will send zoom instructions to the parties of a case before your hearing. If you have difficulty connecting to your hearing, you must notify the Court Coordinator immediately at (956) 523-4078.

To schedule a hearing, file the appropriate motions and proposed order requesting a hearing with the District Clerk. Once the judge reviews the motion for hearing, notices of hearing will be sent to the case participants. If you have any issues receiving a hearing date, contact the Court Coordinator at (956) 253-4078.

Yes. All hearing requests must be made in writing and filed with the District Clerk. Once the court has reviewed the motion for hearing, notices of hearing will be sent to the case participants. For virtual hearings, the Court Coordinator will also provide zoom instructions. If you have any issues receiving a hearing date or zoom instructions, contact the Court Coordinator at (956) 253-4078.

Court staff will provide the court's procedures regarding virtual hearings to all parties whose email addresses are on file with the court. All evidence may be submitted up to the day before your hearing and must be provided to all case participants. Evidence may be e-mailed to the court at csc21@txcourts.gov.
