Civil District Courts hear all family and civil law issues including divorce cases, custody issues, child abuse and neglect (involving the Department of Family and Protective Services, or CPS) cases, cases involving title to land, and civil matters where the amount of money or damages involved is $200 or more.  

This guide contains information on the District Courts in Bexar County.

The Texas Supreme Court has mandated all attorneys to electronically file documents in a Bexar County civil case through an electronic filing service provider certified by the Office of Court Administration. Pro Se litigants may still hand file their documents.

Bexar courts operate on a presiding system, meaning that the docket for pre-trial hearing is centralized among all district judges. 

For criminal dockets, each Judge has the sole authority to set cases in the court. 

All attorneys and self-represented litigants should set their matter with the Presiding Civil District Clerk at (210) 335-2113. Visit the Bexar County Civil District Presiding Court page for more information. 

All fiats, orders setting hearings, and orders to appear must include the following: 

  • The time announcement, 

  • Telephone numbers for all attorneys or self-represented litigants, 

  • Email addresses for all attorneys and self-represented litigants, and 

  • Whether an interpreter is required and the desired language. For languages other than Spanish, make arrangements with court administration at (210) 335-2300.
