What if I need protection from someone involved in my trafficking? Can I get a protective order? How?
Protective orders are available upon request from your local law enforcement agency and court system. The process of obtaining a protective order is separate from the process of applying for a T visa. U.S.C.I.S. does not issue or assist with obtaining protective orders to trafficking survivors. Depending on where you may be, the law enforcement agency to which you report your trafficking experience may issue a protective order to you. Because this is not guaranteed, you should consult with your attorney or with local law enforcement if you do not feel safe.
