Covid 19 changes: The Legal Aid Society is making a few temporary changes in light of this new COVID-19 crisis.
The Levelland office and rural offices will be closed until April 3rd.Beginning tomorrow, March 24th, the Lubbock office will be open and staffed from 9:00am to 2:00pm to take calls and make appointments for legal advice, applicants, and clients. We will continue to provide free legal services to our community with a weighted emphasis on domestic violence victims. However, we are reducing the number of the public who are allowed into the LAS office at one time. Applications will be accepted by appointment ONLY. Please call 806-762-2325 to schedule an appointment for an application, or to speak to an attorney. After 2:00, our staff will be working from home. We apologize for any uncertainty and inconvenience. Please watch our webpage and Facebook for additional information.

Legal Aid Society of Lubbock does not take applications over the phone or online. Applications must be completed in our office, which is located at 916 Main St., Suite 103, Lubbock, TX 79401.
Do you need an appointment to apply for legal assistance?
Legal Aid Society of Lubbock, Inc. does not require appointments to fill out an application. Applications are taken on a walk in basis and can be completed in our office on Mondays-Thursdays from 8:30am to 4pm and Fridays 8:30am to 11am.
What should I bring with me when I come to apply for assistance?
When completing the application, you will need the name and address of the person you are filing against. You do not need to bring anything else. Once you have completed the application, you will be given a list of documents you will need to bring in for your next appointment.
How long will it take before I know if my case has been accepted?
Once you have completed the application at the Legal Aid office, you must call back to schedule an intake appointment. After completion of this appointment, it may take between 2 weeks and 1 month to receive your acceptance letter.
How much will legal assistance cost?
Legal Aid Society does not charge attorney's fees. The only cost that you may incur might be court costs associated with your case.
What type of law does the Legal Aid Society of Lubbock, Inc. practice?
Legal Aid Society of Lubbock, Inc. only practices within the areas of family and elder law. This means that staff attorneys are only able to assist clients with:
- Child custody/child support
- Modification of child custody or child support
- Enforcement of child custody or child support
- Protective Orders for domestic violence
- Simple Wills
- Powers of Attorney
- Medical Powers of Attorney
- Physician's Directives (Living Wills)
