The Texas Eviction Diversion Program Has Ended

Eviction & Other Landlord Issues

The Texas Eviction Diversion Program ended on July 1, 2023.

What was the Texas Eviction Diversion Program?

The Texas Eviction Diversion Program was a Supreme Court of Texas emergency order that allowed tenants to pause their eviction cases while they applied for rent assistance. It also allowed tenants to seal the case record so that it would not show up on their rental history.

My eviction case was sealed under the program. Will it stay sealed?

Yes. Any case sealed as part of the Texas Eviction Diversion Program will stay sealed after the program's end.

I received rent assistance. Can my landlord can evict me?

Most rent assistance programs do not allow the landlord to evict you while you are receiving help. If your landlord tries to evict you while you are getting assistance, let the court know in your Answer as well as at your hearing. You may also wish to notify the rent assistance program.
