Know Before You Go -- Child Support Court Guide word
The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) gives parties notice of a child support court hearing by letter and through court papers delivered in person by a constable or other person who serves court documents. This notice will give the date, time, and location of the court hearing. If you have been served, you must come to court to protect your right to be heard; if you don=t come to court, a default judgment may be taken against you. If the judge has ordered you to appear in court and you don=t, the sheriff may pick you up and bring you before the judge. (You do not need to come to court if you have been advised by OAG child support staff that the hearing has been rescheduled.) Use this guide to help you come to court prepared and informed.
