Protective Order Kit

Are you a victim of domestic violence? Do you need court-ordered protection? You can use the free Protective Order Kit to ask a court for a protective order.   The Kit has information, step-by-step instructions, and the court forms you will need.  You can file the forms for free.  If you do not have an attorney, you can file the forms on your own.  If you need more help, call the Family Violence Legal Line at: 800-374-HOPE.  Click here to download the kit.  Or, click here for more information about protective orders and domestic violence.

You can also ask your local district or county attorney’s office to help you.  Or you can contact your legal aid program.  To find yours, click here.

PLEASE BE CAREFUL: anyone who uses your computer can see what websites and pages you have visited.  You cannot completely clear it.  If you think this may happen, please use a safer computer, call your local shelter, or call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 800-799-SAFE (7233) or TTY: 800-787-3224.

The court forms have been approved by the Supreme Court of Texas, so all counties in Texas should accept them.  They were developed by a special Taskforce appointed by the Supreme Court to help people who need protection.  Click here for the Supreme Court order approving the forms.

Special thanks to the Texas Bar Foundation for providing a grant for this kit.
